Living with chronic Lyme, it is especially important to be mindful of the products you put onto your skin and to also detox your body daily. We are exposed to an increasing number of chemicals, and most of the personal care products on the market have not been tested thoroughly for human safety. The last law that regulated the chemical industry for personal care products was passed in 1938.

  • Coffee Enemas- a mixture of coffee and water is inserted into the colon through the rectum allowing the patient to have multiple bowel movements.
  • Colonics- a form of colon cleansing where a combination of water and other liquids are inserted into the rectum to cleanse and flush out the colon.
  • Cupping- Ancient form of alternative medicine where a practitioner places special cups on your back for 3 minutes. It is believed that cupping detoxes and improves blood flow.
  • Dental Care- Your teeth and gums are direct access to your bloodstream. It is very important to tongue scrape, floss and brush daily. You should be using non-fluoride and organic dental products. It is also believed to be very beneficial to do oil pulling daily with coconut oil.
  • Dry Brushing- dry brushing the skin can help exfoliate the skin’s surface in addition to increasing blood flow and encourage lymph flow/drainage. It can also help you feel energized. 
  • Epsom Salt Bath- a hot bath with Epsom salt helps with muscle pains and detox the body.
  • Essential Oils- Essential oils can be extremely beneficial to your health and detoxing. You can find high-quality essential oils on Amazon, Whole Foods, or through Do Terra. I love the “Detox” essential oil blend from Do Terra. It has the following essential oils in it: Tangerine Peel, Rosemary Leaf, Geranium Flower/Leaf, Juniper Berry, Cilantro Herb.
  • Homeopathic Detox Protocol- several brands offer homeopathic detox kits that help drain and stimulate the elimination centers of the body which are the liver, intestines, kidneys, skin, and lungs.
  • Infared sauna- 30 minutes a day allows you to sweat out many of the toxins. 
  • Ionic Foot Bath- a hot foot bath that draws out toxins through the bottom of your feet.
  • Massages/Lymphatic Drainage/Fascia Release- massages can release toxins from the body’s tissues and organs into the bloodstream, so for massages to be detoxing, you must flush out the system by drinking lots of water afterward. 
  • Organic Personal Care Products- Be very mindful of the products you put on your body. Most of the products available on the market are not safe and are made with very dangerous chemicals. Use the Healthy Living App by the Environmental Working Group to research which products are safer.
  • Rebounder- rebounding is jumping on a trampoline that allows your body to move and bounce without too much impact. The bouncing forces the fluid in your lymph system to move, releasing toxins in your body. I would recommend 10 minutes a day. 
  • Walk/Exercise- It is important to walk, stretch, or do some sort of exercise each day to stimulate your lymphatic system and allow blood flow to increase in the body.
