My Promise to Alex: Creating Purpose from Pain with author and philanthropist Jody Hudson

Jody Hudson had an elite athlete daughter named Alex in the 5th grade when pains here and there began getting out of control. She battled fiercely for many years without knowing it was Lyme, often shunned by the medical community with denial, strange looks and judgement. As the disease progressed, she finally got a proper diagnosis her senior year in high school but Lyme eventually won this battle.
Hear Jody’s journey with Alex through the years as a single mom not knowing where to turn next. She asked Alex for a list of symptoms to speak on her behalf and to her shock it was two pages long. Alex eventually had to give up her scholarship to UCLA and doctor’s bills were adding up to well over $100,000 just in the last couple of years. Lyme triggered MCAS which was eventually unsurmountable for Alex. This was one battle Jody couldn’t win for her daughter though along the way there were many gifts to help her go on for Alex.
