What is SOT Therapy for Lyme and chronic illness?
In the latest episode of the Lyme Time podcast, I welcome back Integrative medicine physician Dr. Casey Kelley to talk specifically about SOT therapy. She answers every single question I had, and I had a lot of them!
SOT therapy (Supportive Oligonucleotide Therapy) is used to help eradicate some cancers, Lyme disease, chronic inflammatory conditions and a few viruses such as EBV. It is very specific and can potentially block the underlying mechanisms of certain diseases through synthetic short pieces of DNA or RNA (oligonucleotides) to target and inhibit specific gene expression.
SOT is a little more difficult to understand in terms of the actual science but is one of the easiest treatments I’ve done in terms of the blood draw and return of the enhanced blood. Understanding it fully helped me make the decision to go for it.
All our bodies will react differently, and this treatment is active in the body 24/7 for about 6 months. I did have about two days of mild Herxheimer reaction (as do some). I will only notice if it is actively working in my blood by retesting or just noticing the flare-ups are less intense or less frequent regardless of exposure, stress, or triggers. My doctor’s recommendation was to do two treatments for EBV and two for Lyme (borrelia). Each Lyme treatment must be specific to the specific bacteria (and does not treat every co-infection).
