Daily Dental Care for Optimizing Health

April 14, 2020

One of the things I have learned throughout my healing journey is how important the health of your mouth is in overcoming chronic illness. Ensure all cavitations, root canals, and mercury fillings have been addressed and correctly cleaned out. Please see our previous blog about Biological Dentistry.

Next, the products you use in your mouth are just as important. Because many of the products we use are not tested for human health safety and use chemicals that are harmful to your body, I would take extra care in finding the right products. You can look at the Skin Deep app or Healthiest Plug-in to review dental products. Here is my daily dental routine, and links to all my favorite products:

Mimi's Daily Dental Routine

  1. Tongue Scraping: Each morning and evening, you should scrape your tongue with a tongue scraper like this one to remove bacteria and build up from your tongue. In addition to having a healthier-looking tongue, you reduce the bacteria in your mouth and reduce the chance of cavities.
  2. FlossingIt is imperative that you floss at least once but preferably twice a day to avoid build-up. Build-up causes plague, which leads to gum disease.
  3. Mouthwash: Rinse your teeth twice a day to help the PH of your mouth plus any bacteria that might be present.
  4. Teeth CleaningI use an electric sonic toothbrush with soft bristles and use a natural toothpaste that does not have fluoride. You don’t want to use bristles that are too hard that could damage your gums.
  5. Oil Pulling: Oil pulling is a great way to help kill harmful bacteria in the mouth, reduce bad breath, prevent cavities, decrease inflammation, improve gum health, and whiten teeth. You need to do this 20 minutes a day. Try to create a routine, like put it in your mouth when you get in the shower and getting dressed or when you are folding the laundry

A note about fluoride: excessive fluoride exposure causes several health issues, including dental fluorosis, skeletal fluorosis, thyroid problems, acne, ADHD, reproductive issues, high blood pressure, and other cardiovascular problems. Dental fluorosis creates discoloration of the teeth leaving white streaks or specks in the tooth. Skeletal fluorosis is a bone disease that causes the bones to harden and be less elastic, increasing the risk of fractures and reducing joint mobility. Just be aware that fluoride is in your drinking water and many dental products.

Once you have been to a Biological dentist and maintain a proper daily routine, you will see it have a direct impact on your health.

xx, Mimi
