Heal through Breathwork

“What is breathwork?” I hear people ask me this question regularly. It’s tough to put something so mystical and powerful, like the experience of breathwork into a small vehicle like a word. Yet I am going to give it a go.

Unlike Reiki and other energy healing modalities, breathwork is an active meditation. It is taught both in group settings and one-on-one. The effects of breathwork are powerful. Sometimes, especially in the beginning, it is comforting to have someone experienced to explain the journey and guide you through the breathwork practice.

With that being said, the student/client is actively participating and allowing as much healing as they feel comfortable. I find it so much more rewarding to know that as a student/client, I can create healing for myself alongside a teacher. It is not just something done to me.

The student/client can also learn this amazing tool and empower themselves to create healing for themselves without a teacher present at every session. Breathwork teaches that healing can come from within, and we do not need to depend on others.

I believe that energy makes up everything – emotions, wounds, traumas from the past, also false beliefs that we create early on or adopt from society or our parents. Our whole life experience and false beliefs sit in our subconscious mind, under the surface. Unknowingly, we continue to listen to those false beliefs and continue to carry those heavy wounds with us into the future. We tend to mostly navigate life from that place instead of our present reality.

I will give a few examples of a false belief.

“It is not safe for me to be intimate.” “I need to be perfect for love.” “I am not good enough.” “I’m worthless.” “I deserve abuse.” “My voice doesn’t matter.” “I can’t trust people.” “People are out to hurt me.” “I need to punish myself for hurting someone else.”

When we breathe consciously, our breath turns into energy. This energy begins to push the old and stuck energy from the subconscious up and out of our body. While simultaneously opening up our seven primary chakras. A chakra is an energy vortex in our body, and each one represents something unique and important.

The goal of breathwork is to open all the chakras, and most importantly, the 5th chakra, the heart chakra. When the heart begins to open, we get to feel optimistic, inspired, joyful, in love with life, and deeply connected to all. When our heart is closed, we tend to listen to those false beliefs under the surface.

When our heart begins to open, we get to listen to our hearts voice. Our present reality. Not our past wounds. That is optimism, inspiration, joy, love, connection, and lightness. It creates a feeling of confidence and self-worth.

I believe that illness or pain is sometimes the last resort of the body to get our attention. Our minds have a way of wanting life a certain way. Sometimes we are going in the wrong direction or living in the past. We continue to resist change, so our body forces us to listen. Sometimes it has to get so painful before we stop to pay attention. It is then, at that moment, when the healing can begin. Through the healing process, we get to connect with our bodies again, land on a new path, and move in a new direction.

Breathwork helps to clear those old wounds, traumas, illnesses, and pain. In an instant, we find ourselves back in our body, feeling energy pulsing through our body, and watching emotions clear out.

As we heal, we begin to feel lighter while these old energies are clearing out day in and day out. We notice ourselves make different choices as we are now listening to our heart/soul speaking, and not our pain or ego anymore. Our body begins to heal and feels vibrant again. We learn to listen to it again and notice how intuitive it is.

The healing effects of breathwork are rapid, lasting, and profound. I’ve seen miracles, people shifting in a matter of weeks, months. The work is so mystical, and as I mentioned earlier, it is hard to put this experience into words. I’ve been teaching this work for ten years now. And there is not a day that goes by that it doesn’t continue to create healing in the lives of others, including myself.

I’ve worked with quite a few Lyme patients. The process works the same way as explained earlier. We clear the old wounds and false beliefs out for good. The body begins to heal itself. Energy and vitality return, and life becomes easier to navigate!

I have one particular girl I’ve been working with now for three years. When I met her, she was in bed. She had no energy and was feeling incredibly hopeless and depressed. Nothing was helping, and her life was wasting away.

She felt a shift within one session. Within a month, people were asking her what she was doing because she looked so much better! Within three months, she was back to living her life, symptom-free. I continue to work with her and mentor her to help her stay balanced and ensure that she continues to listen to her body’s needs, above all else. We also work on clearing out any emotions of the week before they become manifest as illness.

This work is incredibly rewarding. My wish is that you, too, get a chance to experience it for yourself!

Much love and healing to you,

Marlize
